Biography

Raised on California’s scenic Central Coast, as a small child, Kevin used anything he could get his hands on to play the drums, silverware most notably. He wrote his first song on piano at age nine. Formal training on drums started in the fifth grade, deepening an eventual lifelong love of percussion. In middle school, he added trumpet and guitar to his musical passions, giving him a well-rounded approach to and love for all musical genres.

At Cabrillo High School in Lompoc, California, Kevin was drum line captain for a remarkable two years; won the 2003 US Marine Corps “Semper Fidelis” award for musical excellence; and was thrice selected to the Santa Barbara County Honor Band and Orchestra. His favorite musical memories of these times revolve around the High School Jazz Band, his adaptation of the Emerson Lake and Palmer classic “Karn Evil Nine” into a drum & bugle corps field show and a two week stint as the solo percussionist for the highly acclaimed production of “Les Miserables” at The Little Theatre.

At Santa Barbara City College, Kevin studied under such musical luminaries as Jim Mooy and Linda Holland. Years of hard work and dedication paid off as he successfully auditioned for SBCC’s “A” combo group. He performed regularly with the locally acclaimed Monday Madness Band at world famous SOhO in Santa Barbara. Pursued his personal musical tastes with groups such as Red Coral opening for the Covenant House Charity at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz etc. club in Bel Air, California and with Three-fifths Human at the San Diego House of Blues.

Collaborating with San Diego based Cymatic & Ozeronic Productions, Kevin wrote, arranged, and performed all percussion for the original music for the Sprint/Novatel mobile Wi-fi Hot Spot social media campaign. While with Three-fifths Human, he wrote and performed all percussion for the song Jah Soldier originally produced for the movie soundtrack of Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.

Kevin happily collaborates on background music, commercial jingles and sits in for many southern California area bands of various tastes, both live venues and in studio.
